Katie received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Georgia in Athens. Over the course of her music teaching career she taught in public, private, and charter schools in North Carolina and Georgia, and had the pleasure of working with students from early childhood through adults. Beyond teaching, Katie has participated in every aspect of music – performing, directing, writing, theatrical, choral, and more.
After 12 years as a music and theatre arts educator, Katie decided to pursue a Master of Science in Instructional Technology degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. During coursework at UNCW, she found a particular passion for design, development, and project management and is enjoying refining her skills in these areas. While pursuing a second career in this arena, Katie continues to be committed to her first love (music, of course). She teaches piano to a number of local students and remains deeply connected to Wilmington’s performance community. And now, she's added being the Music Director of Unity of Wilmington to feed her soul - nurturing our souls too!
Katie and her family reside in the heart of Wilmington, North Carolina. Her husband is a middle school teacher and they are the proud parents of two exceptionally bright, endlessly energetic little girls.
